June Report – Hot Fishing!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Summer is here and the Wrightsville Beach fishing is heating up nicely!  On our half day trips, the spanish mackerel fishing has been excellent, with catches in the double digits nearly each trip.  There have also been a few king mackerel and cobia around, some cobia as large as 60 lbs.  A bit further off the beach, we are catching plenty of cobia, amberjack and grouper, with the occasional king mackerel and gaffer dolphin mixed in.  The black sea bass fishing has been excellent with limits on half day trips being the norm.  We’ve seen a few sailfish, but have not yet landed one this season.  The bottom and grouper fishing has been great, with a few gag grouper tipping the scales at 20+ lbs!

May Report

Saturday, May 5th, 2012

Offshore fishing in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach NC is really starting to pick up!  The opening of grouper season has started off nicely, with good catches of gag grouper, grunts and porgy.  Trolling for king mackerel has been hit or miss, but the gaffer dolphin fishing in the gulf stream is strong, with a few wahoo still around as well.  Closer to the beach, we have been catching some nice sized bluefish, a few spanish mackerel, and the bonito and flase albacore are biting on casting jigs.  As the weather and water warms, the fishing is only going to get better!

Spring fishing is ramping up off of Wilmington

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Spring is rapidly approaching and the fishing is beginning to pick up. Fishing off of Wilmington is good with king mackerel and wahoo being caught on full day trips. Beginning in April and May half day trips will be productive for kings and quarter day trips will be full of spanish mackerel and blues. Book your wilmington or wrightsville beach charter today, spots are filling up fast and the phone is ringing off the hook.

Tight lines,
